Welcome to this week’s discussion thread! The Classically Abby community has grown so much and become such a great place to discuss ideas and share values. What’s your FAVORITE thing about the Classically Abby community? What would you like to see MORE of?
True acceptance. I have a very Left background and I was afraid I would be judged for my past. I was afraid I would be judged for being divorced/annulled from an abusive marriage. I was scared that no one would believe I really do support traditional values and classic living. I was terrified, but I shared my story in Book Club and I received heartfelt sympathy from all present and NO judgement or asking me nosy questions. Instead, I found more acceptance here than those groups of my past.
My favorite thing about being a part of this lovely community is knowing that there are other women out there who also value and appreciate God, religion, classic femininity, and conservative values. It's easy to feel lonely in a culture that pushes the opposite of almost everything that you believe, so it's very refreshing to spend time here with you all :)
I love the community because it continues to give me a diffrent view on life. If you would have asked me a year ago if I had any consecutive values, I would have said no way I'm very liberal. But through the community I realized that I have a lot more in common with the conservative community then I thought!
Traditional media has a habit of demonizing both the left and the right, but I feel that this community can really help bridge a connection and bring more people together. We may not agree on everything, but it's amazing that we can have a place to share ideas with out judgement.
I went to a liberal arts college where I felt my identity as a woman was overshadowed for a while. This community helps me reclaim the joys of cooking caring and creating.
I love learning a new way to think, as I am not conservative. I am waiting until marriage to have sex and this is a totally new thing I have decided so I would love more help on what to expect from guys, what to do about living together, what about weekend getaways...I mean...Ive never done the no sex thing.
I like that the group reminds me that there are plenty of other women out there that love cooking meals, creating things, caring for others, and enjoying simple things. It's the opposite of a lot of what is spread around on social media.
I'd like to see a bit more opera again. A few months ago, I started listening to opera while working and it is such good background music for editing! (When the singing is in a different language, I can easily focus on grammar and sentence structures. :D ) Maybe some discussion of popular operas... things like the storylines, popular songs from operas, etc. Or just an occasional recommendation of an opera with a short summary of why you recommend it. I'm not sure!
I'm so glad to hear that you are finding more joy in your role!! (and yes, Catch-22 is not easy! If you are still struggling, I might recommend watching the Hulu series because I found it gave me context for some characters and chapters.)

That is absolutely the goal!

That makes me so happy!

So glad to hear that you want to hear more about opera! I always love sharing my thoughts on it :)
I'll keep that in mind!
I would love that, too!

There are more of us with traditional values than you might think!
