I was raised as a Christian and bullied out of my religion my first year into college. I was a cynical, emotionally damaged atheist who despised men and lived a very leftist life for 7 years until I met my now-husband and put in an immense amount of work into my healing. I've finally made my way back to the traditional, Christian values that I grew up with, so I related very much to this episode and greatly appreciated hearing it! Thank you for the wonderful content, I absolutely love living a classic, traditional life - as you pointed out, my anxiety has gone down for many reasons including the ones you mentioned, and I'm much happier as-is, rather than due to materialistic, outside factors.
You’ve definitely made a good point here. The idea of “do what makes you happy” as a way to find happiness causes people to jump from one physical pleasure to the next, only to find the kind of happiness that is shallow and fleeting. It’s the happiness that doesn’t last, and this idea, in my opinion, can cause anxiety, depression, and even an existential crisis. What I have realized this past year is that believing in a higher power is very important because it forces me to admit that I can’t do this all on my own, and it can help me to find purpose and meaning in my life. I think this is something that can help a lot of people, especially in this day and age.
Anyways, thank you for another great episode, and I love the new format!
