Classic Style Inspo
There’s nothing more classic than a strong brow, long eyelashes, and red lipstick. Plus, this pink and white dress is just divine. I love looking at starlets from the early days of Hollywood because their style was so feminine and put together. Always a good place to go for fashion inspiration!
Things I’ve Been Loving: Winnie The Pooh Pens
Okay, this might be my most random recommendation ever. But my mother-in-law bought these pens for Mr. Baby’s first birthday party because it was Winnie-The-Pooh-themed, and now these are literally the only pens I use. First of all, they are SO stinking adorable. Second, they are lovely to write with! They glide so easily across the page. If you’re a pen lover like I am and you enjoy Winnie The Pooh, try these out!

The BEST Easy Summer Makeup Essentials!
Hello lovely friends! Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Now that Mr. Baby is back on a nap schedule, I can start sticking to my own schedule again, which means getting out my Substack newsletter earlier in the week. And hopefully I’ll be able to record a video this week, as well! I haven’t sat down to record in quite some time, and I’m so excited about it. Of course, on the day that I’m writing this, Mr. Baby decided to fall asleep early this morning on our stroll, so we’ll see how the rest of the day goes, but as of right now I am hopeful for the future.
This weekend was so nice and relaxed, which was a wonderful change of pace from last weekend. Jacob and I spent Sabbath with Mr. Baby reading, playing, swimming, and going to synagogue. Then on Sunday, we went to my parents for a family brunch which is such a great start to the week. My nieces and nephews just love Mr. Baby, and it’s so meaningful to see their relationships flourish and blossom. He gets so excited about seeing his cousins, and that just fills my heart with joy. We spent the rest of the day just hanging out with the family, and it was nice to slow down.
I even got an hour to myself to shop around TJ Maxx and not have to chase my toddler around (which is fun, but doesn’t leave much time to peruse the aisles). I picked up some dresses, all of which I’ll be returning, and a small makeup item as well. That’s my secret trick, by the way. If you are going shopping and plan to bring the clothes home to try on, in order to save yourself a little disappointment of not finding anything, buy something small you know that you’ll keep! So for me, I spent five dollars on a pack of summer lipsticks and now I don’t feel like the trip was a total waste of time. For you, it might be a small necklace or a decorative item for your home!
Because I picked up these great summer lipsticks, I thought it would be fun to share my top summer makeup essentials. At this point in my life as a mom, my makeup has been pared down to the absolute basics, and in summer I think that’s the best course of action anyways! No one wants to be sweating with a full face of makeup on. So get ready for some easy makeup suggestions that works with even the simplest routine!
Tinted Sunscreen/Moisturizer. Lately, I have not been interested in applying a full face of foundation even if I’ve been having little acne breakouts here and there. I just don’t have the patience to sit down with a brush or sponge, apply the liquid all over my face, and then have to bring color back to my skin with bronzer and blush. Instead, I’ve been loving tinted sunscreen! I can just apply it to my face with my fingers and it generally evens out my skin tone. This is a great part of anyone’s summer makeup routine because sunscreen is so important! We should all be caring for our skin, and if the sunscreen happens to have a little tinted coverage, so much the better. I’m also a proponent of mineral sunscreens over chemical sunscreens, so everything I’ve shared is a mineral sunscreen. I’ve used the Cerave, Neutrogena, and Honest Beauty and love them all. Lately, I’ve been mixing the last two I mentioned together and loving the result!
Tinted Lip Balm. Speaking of easy products, let’s talk tinted lip balms! I love a lip balm because it doesn’t feel like it’s going to slip and slide around when I’m eating or sweating. I can kiss my baby without worrying about it, and it’s more like a hint of color rather than something really intense. We’re basically aiming for a no-makeup makeup look, and this is the way to do it! I’ve loved the tinted Chapstick for years, so that’s an easy favorite. I’ve heard great things about the Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm as well. And I just recently picked up the Physician’s Formula lipstick and I like it a lot! The color is definitely more intense though, so just be aware of that.
Mascara. If I wear any makeup, you can guarantee I’ll also be wearing mascara. Mascara is just the easiest way to make your eyes look bigger, make you look more awake, and to flatter your face. I’ve been using the Milani Anti-Gravity mascara for a while now and I love it, but the Essence Lash Princess is a cult favorite. Another easy summer essential!
Concealer. For the average person, you definitely don’t need concealer if you’re just wearing a tinted sunscreen. The point isn’t to look perfect, it’s just to look a little more put-together. But if you, like me, have some acne you’d like to cover, spot concealing is an easy way to cover up those areas you’re a little more sensitive about. Sometimes, if I’m extra tired, I’ll throw a little bit under my eyes to cover up those dark circles. But concealer is mostly nice to have in an emergency. This concealer has been my tried and true for years now, and I still love it!
Eyebrow Gel. Last but not least, the last makeup item I think is great to keep in your summer makeup bag is eyebrow gel. My eyebrows are unruly and often need a swipe of gel to hold them in place. I think keeping your eyebrows looking full and clean is a nice addition to your minimal summer makeup. Just find a shade that works for you, and go for it.
And those are my summer makeup essentials! What are yours? Leave them in the comments down below.

Jones Road Beauty, makeup maven Bobbi Brown's latest line, is great for summer! The whole line is skincare based with very good ingredients. There is a tinted moisturizer that smells fantastic and looks amazing.. also her Miracle Balm is a great blush, bronzer, or highlighter. It is really easy to work with and creates a summer look in just minutes! I like the Miracle Balm in both Flushed and Bronze.
Hii so I put it in the book club chat but I wanted to suggested Sickening by John Abramson. I thought what he had to say on Joe Rohan super compelling and I bought the book, but have only gotten about a chapter in! I think it would be a book that would be a good challenge for conservative women since I think it will be one that in some areas will challenge our viewpoints but also be very relevant to us as we are often the ones who take charge of taking care of our children and later our parents. We want our health care system to be the best it can be for ourselves and our loved ones and I am optimistic that this book will offer some interesting points to think about.
Abby I have also thought about it and I’ve thought of some things I’d be interested to chat with you about in a coaching session. If you’d send me the info I’d love to give it a try!
