6 Ways To CELEBRATE Spring!
When you wake up to sunny skies and birds chirping, it’s undeniable – SPRING. IS. HERE. And there is something so special about spring every year! Every other season seems to sort of meld into the next. Spring turns into summer as the weather continues to warm up, summer turns into fall as the heat hits its peak, fall turns to winter as the leaves drop from the trees - but when spring comes along after winter, it doesn’t seem to follow a normal pattern. It’s been so cold for so long, with grey skies and frigid wind, that when that first crocus or daffodil pokes out of the dead earth, it’s hard to believe that the weather is taking a turn for the better!
Growing up in Los Angeles, I always used to wonder about this obsession with spring. Because the seasons were basically all the same where I lived, I couldn’t understand why spring was so special. As an opera singer, I found myself especially at a loss since I sang so many art songs about spring and its beauty. It wasn’t until I moved to the east coast that I actually understood what the hullabaloo was about - the first time I could walk outside without my winter jacket I just about cried!
But now that spring has officially arrived and summer is on its way, it means it’s time to enjoy it! Nature is singing and we get to experience it to the fullest. So today I wanted to share with you all a list of six small ways to celebrate spring this year. Because besides for the horrendous allergies (anyone else suffering?), there’s nothing better than a beautiful spring afternoon!
Take A Day Trip. In the last few weeks, Jacob and I have gone on multiple day trips to little towns around where we live and it has been so lovely! Is there anything better than exploring your own backyard? I always loved visiting friends who knew their own area so well they could offer advice on places to visit that were off the beaten track. Taking a day trip gives you that unique opportunity. So often, we get sidetracked by our day-to-day and miss out on all the cool things around our homes. But spring is the perfect time to take advantage of your local scene!
Put On A Skirt…With No Tights! How exciting is it when you can FINALLY put on a skirt and not have to worry that you’ll freeze to death? Now is the time to take advantage of all of your beautiful spring sundresses and leave those tights in storage! Find a dress that specifically reflects the season – a brightly patterned flower dress, for example, or something pastel – and feel your spirits rise. Embracing your femininity is easy to do in springtime as everything is budding and growing!
Wear A Springy Perfume! Have you ever noticed that some perfumes evoke different moods, times of the day, or even different seasons? Sweeter, heavier perfumes are generally more suited to the evening and to the wintertime, while light, floral scents are perfect for daytime and spring. Wearing a springy perfume brings the blooming flowers with you wherever you go! Now, a springy scent doesn’t simply have to be floral. I prefer fresher and cleaner scents, or even something citrusy. But whenever I put on my spring perfume, it’s as if I’m transported to a secret garden.
Go To A Botanical Garden. Speaking of gardens, visiting a botanical garden in springtime is a must-do. Everything is simply blooming! Many places have botanical gardens, so with just a bit of research you should be able to find one in your local area. Taking a walk with a loved one and smelling the roses in a garden is the perfect way to embrace spring. Plus, having an ice cream cone while you saunter makes the day even better!
Pack Away Your Winter Coats. There is nothing more satisfying than packing away your winter coats as the cold weather starts to fade into the distance. This is one way to signify that warmer days are up ahead! Placing them in the back of your closet to make room for spring jackets is so exciting and you can say ta-ta to those down coats until next year!
Have A Picnic. Last but not least, get a picnic blanket, pack some delicious food, grab a bottle of wine, and head to a park to enjoy the warmth of spring. Picnics are so romantic and perfect for a day out, and springtime is a nice time for them because it isn’t so hot out that you’re sweating yourself silly. Picnics are nice even if you decide to go out on your own! Bring a book and some fruit and you are set for a lovely afternoon in the sun.
As spring starts to turn to summer, it’s wonderful to take advantage of the season before it shifts and relish the special things unique to spring’s charms. Let me know in the comments how you celebrate spring and if you try any of these activities!

Classic Style Inspo
Today I wanted to share my favorite perfumes with you all! As you know, I believe wearing perfume is one of the most classic and feminine things a woman can do. Finding the perfect scent that matches your personality is a lovely way to express who you are! Here are my three favorites:
Tocca Simone. This perfume is perfect for spring. It is a floral fruity fragrance that perfectly encapsulates the freshness of the season.
Silhouette by Christian Siriano. I consider this my evening perfume. It is a little more on the warmer side, with notes of black current and amber.
Inis Perfume. This cologne is actually unisex and smells like you’re at the sea, which I love. Truly fresh and lovely on a warm day.
Things I’ve Been Loving: Popcorn Maker
Jacob and I love making popcorn at home, but neither of us are big fans of bagged microwave popcorn because of the heavy flavoring. As well, we don’t like making “homemade” popcorn in the microwave since you can’t put any oil in the container - so any flavorings we choose to add don’t stick to the popcorn! That’s where this fabulous popcorn maker comes in. You put this right on the stove top and because it has a mechanism to spin the kernels, they don’t burn! We have loved using this - and it’s easy to clean.
