Classic Style Inspo
Have you ever thought of treating your cardigan…like a normal top? You can just tuck it into your jeans! I had never considered that until this sweater. I actually saw the saleswoman wearing it this way, and I was inspired. Tucking this sweater in takes it from “okay” to “ooh la la!”
Things I’ve Been Loving: Women’s T-Shirt Dress
I’m always looking for something easy and cute to throw on when I’m taking care of Mr. Baby, and this T-shirt dress is great! For my height (5’8”) I’d say it’s a touch short, but if you’re not as tall as I am, you will love it! And it comes in a ton of different colors.

How To Throw The BEST Children's Birthday Party - And Impress All Of Your Guests 😊
Hello classic crew and happy Wednesday! How are you doing? Share your thoughts in the comments down below! I hope you’re having a great start to your week. It has been a busy few days for us. On Shabbat, we hosted both sets of parents at our home and held a celebratory meal at synagogue for Mr. Baby’s birthday! Actually, it wasn’t just for Mr. Baby’s birthday. At our synagogue, there were four babies born the same WEEK - and we happen to be good friends with all of the families! We decided it would be fun for all four of us to go in together on the meal, or kiddush as we call it, and it was so wonderful to see our community flourishing and growing. Mr. Baby’s 12-month checkup was on Monday, and he’s thriving which is such a blessing. He is strong and smart and hitting his milestones, and we are just so grateful that he’s such a healthy boy.
Today, I want to share how to throw the BEST children’s party and have a great time doing it! I personally love planning and hosting parties. I love seeing everything come together and watching people have fun together within a more formal structure. Mr. Baby’s birthday was in the works for weeks leading up to the event, and I really wanted it to be special. I went on Pinterest for inspiration and then started getting everything together! It all turned out perfectly and we had the best time. And our guests couldn’t stop telling us how beautifully it turned out! So now I’m sharing all of my secrets with YOU. Let’s get into it!
Choose a theme. Early on, I knew I wanted Mr. Baby’s birthday party to be Winnie the Pooh themed! We had read through the entire book during his first year, so it made perfect sense. Growing up, my father had read Winnie the Pooh to us every Friday night, so it had fond memories for me, and sharing the book with my son was a dream come true. Once I had decided on a theme, everything else came together rather quickly. So that’s my first recommendation: choose a theme. Once you know what your party will be centered around, you can start buying decorations in a color scheme; you can select entertainment that fits in with the motif; you can choose a playlist that perfectly matches your surroundings. It simplifies everything once you choose a theme for your party, and it also makes everything a whole lot cuter!
Use Etsy to your advantage. Once I had chosen Winnie the Pooh as our theme, I hoped over to Etsy to look for templates and T-shirts. Etsy has so many fun and unique options to up your party game! For example, I knew that Etsy would have downloadable templates for invitations, signs, decor, and more. I found a pack that I loved, purchased it, edited the templates, and printed the signs at Walgreens. It elevated the look of the whole party and made everything look so much fancier. All the signs matched each other and were beautifully designed. And all I had to do was download them! On top of the templates, I knew that I wanted Jacob and I to wear Winnie the Pooh T-shirts, and Etsy is a great place to find cute designs. Plus, you’re supporting small businesses, which I love!
Create a balloon garland. I knew that I wanted to create a balloon garland for Mr. Baby’s birthday party because I had read that they aren’t that difficult to create. I am so glad that I did! Creating a balloon garland really is more simple than you might think, and it leaves such an impression on your guests. I ordered my supplies online and followed a simple tutorial which taught me everything I needed to know in a few short minutes. The whole project took me a couple of hours the night before the party, and I love the way it turned out. Plus, I was so proud of myself for creating something so dazzling!
Provide appropriate activities. For Mr. Baby’s party, we knew that we would have a lot of kids of different ages there, so we wanted to make sure that we had appropriate activities to keep everyone entertained. With that in mind, I purchased some waterplay tables for the children younger than three - and they loved it! I told their parents to bring bathing suits and towels, and the younger kids were entertained for almost a full two hours! For the older kids, I provided an arts and crafts project - they could paint and assemble birdhouses and take them home. This was another hit! The older kids loved the project, and they were so excited to have something to do. Because the children were entertained, the adults could socialize, eat, and enjoy the event!
Host it in your backyard or outside. This was probably the best choice we made for Mr. Baby’s party. We knew we wanted to host it in our backyard for many reasons, and it worked out perfectly. There was so much room for everyone to move around comfortably, the children could make a huge mess and not worry about it, and everyone could enjoy the fresh air. And the best part? My house wasn’t destroyed by the end of the event! It was basically clean! All we had to do at the end was clean up the backyard, which was a pretty simple process. If you can host a birthday party outside, whether that be in your backyard or a friend’s backyard, I highly recommend it!
Some of these tips could easily be transferred to an adult party, too. For example, I’d love to have a balloon garland at MY birthday party! Have you ever thrown a child’s birthday party? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
Whats the date and time we are discussing Stolen Youth
This couldn’t have come at a better time! My son is turning 1 in about a month (theme is jungle book - he screams with joy at the sound of “I want to be like you.” Ironically, he’s never seen the movie though... haha!).
As per your advice, I’m going to buy and print lots of jungle book characters as decor, cake topper, and maybe even stickers. Let’s see how much time I have... Haha!
How long was your son’s party? We’re planning two hours. Hopefully that’s not too short...
Anyway, love the advice and can’t wait to throw my son a party! Can’t believe how time flies....
