3 Reasons Why You Should REALLY Talk To Your Mom Every Week!
Plus, a product I've been loving...
Part of my daily routine is going for a walk and calling my mom. When the call comes through, my mom will pick up the phone, put on her shoes and go for a walk herself. We like killing two birds with one stone: first, enjoying one another’s company, and second, getting our steps in. Since we don’t live near each other, this is our version of going for a walk together when we can’t do it in person.
It’s always a bit odd when we go a week without speaking – perhaps we get busy or something comes up. But when we do pick up the phone once again to chat, the words come tumbling out and we end up speaking for far longer than we intended. I cherish these moments with my mom and know that I will never regret having spoken to her for a few extra minutes here and there.
I know I’m very lucky to have such a great relationship with my mother. Some women don’t have that luxury. And I know that talking on the phone every day might be a bit much for the average person. But for the many women who do have at least a somewhat good relationship with their mother, I think you should talk to your mom every week. It might not be popular advice nowadays, but you’ll get a lot out of it! Here’s why.
She’s lived longer than you have. Life is weird and complicated and messy sometimes. With all of the chaos that happens in our lives, your mom can offer you the wisdom of someone who’s lived longer than you have. My mom constantly provides me with perspective, reminding me that what feels endless now will ultimately feel like a blip twenty years from now. She’s able to calm my anxieties because of what she’s lived through and where she’s at now. Life feels so serious at 18, 20, and 25. By the time your mother is in her 50s and 60s, she’s more established and comfortable, so she can keep you clearheaded when things feel out of control.
She actively wants what’s best for you. Not every friend wants what’s best for you, but your mother does. She wants you to succeed, find meaning and fulfillment, be happy – you’re her child and she loves you! The relationship between a mother and child is so special because your goals are very much your mother’s goals too. When you succeed, your mother succeeds too. With that in mind, your mother will guide you in the right direction. She will give you the best advice, not only because she has life experience, but because she wants you to get everything you’ve ever wanted. And knowing you can expect your mother to help you in whatever you do is the most comforting thought.
She believes in you. Your mother believes you are God’s gift to the world because, in fact, you are God’s gift to her. God blessed her the day you were conceived! That means your mother knows your value and knows how wonderful you are. She believes you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to – and there’s nothing more wonderful than that.
Not everyone will want to speak to her mother every day like I do, but speaking to your mother once a week is such a special addition to your routine. Plus, your mother will appreciate it so much. Showing your love just by giving her a call is a special thing you can do for your mother – and think of all you get in return! Advice, love, and confidence. So next time you have ten extra minutes, pick up the phone. You won’t regret that you did.

Have you blow-dried your hair recently? A good blow dry is such a nice way to give your hair volume and shine. I normally wash my hair at night and let it air dry while I sleep, but the last month or so I’ve been blow drying my hair in the morning and it makes a big difference!
